George Beahm’s THE MILITARY SCIENCE OF STAR WARS

Before I became a full-time writer, I spent a lot of time in the military; specifically, the U.S. Army. A former major in the field artillery, I served on active duty, attended the Resident Officer Basic Course and, later, the Officer Advance Course followed by courses at the Command and General Staff College. I served in the National Guard in Virginia, and in the Army Reserve. Drawing on my years of service, I’ve taken a critical look at STAR WARS to discuss its military aspects: some of it works, and some of it doesn’t, but I had a lot of fun at looking critically at the battles that played out on screen.

If you’re a civilian and find yourself unfamiliar with military culture, I’ve discussed today’s military and compared and contrasted it to the world of STAR WARS, to form a connective bridge.
